As part of Rachel Maclean’s GENERATION exhibition, CCA is pleased to present a programme of iconic international films which engage with the process of independence and social change around the world.
Mise Eire, 1959, is one of the most widely-acclaimed and appreciated events in Irish film history. The film uses newsreel and contemporary photographs to tell the story of events surrounding the Easter Rising of 1916.
The film is a historic artistic collaboration: George Morrison's pioneering cinematic work, Sean O Riada's innovative music score, and Gael Linn's film-making experience. O Riada was commissioned by Gael Linn to write the score for its feature-length film Mise Eire (1959), directed by George Morrisson.
