About Lauren's work

Lauren Printy Currie makes sculptural objects that explore the physicality of experience and perception; using purposefully unpredictable casting and relief processes and by assembling layers of material and colour into groups that emphasise the tactile quality of the individual elements. Through this making process, reality, perception and imagination are all called into question through the production of an encounter with which the work responds to a surplus in materiality. The display of these objects acts as indicators of varying positions or viewpoints, creating personal ideograms which raise questions about making recollected in the memory of the artist, her interest in the crossover between painting and sculpture and the ideas in literature and language.

Printy Currie also makes prints, books and publications that further explore sculptural preoccupations by gathering imagery, exploring printing techniques and varying textures of paper.
